Our Story

The Light Factory started in 2013 as a weekend project. I had just finished renovating my first home, and I couldn’t find a chandelier that felt just right—something modern, playful, and personal. So, I decided to make one. Using hand-blown glass bubbles, I designed a light that looked like floating clouds. I loved it—and so did everyone who saw it.

Within a year, what started as a DIY project turned into a full-blown business. I spent those early days working around the clock—designing, building, learning, and listening. Since then, The Light Factory has grown into a small but mighty studio creating handcrafted lighting for clients across the country.

We’re a tight-knit, mostly female team of seven—just me, five amazing women, and my husband, who joined a few years ago. These women are the heart of the business, and I’m endlessly proud of the care and skill they bring to every fixture. We offer profit-sharing and prioritize fair pay because we believe people should be valued for their talent and dedication.

Every piece we make is built by hand in our Pacific Northwest studio. We’re not a factory - despite the name. Each light is made to order and nearly every aspect is customizable, from the bubble finish to the hanging height. While some clients shop directly from the site, most reach out for help tailoring their piece. One of our team members walks them through the options and makes sure every detail is just right.

Even after a light leaves our studio, we stay connected. We offer FaceTime support for installations, free bubble replacements within the first 30 days, and we're always here if questions come up—even years down the line.

We also care deeply about our community. We work with local ceramic artists and finishers, and donate 10% of our profits to nonprofits doing meaningful work—like Vanessa Behan, Family Promise, Second Harvest, and WHWF.

Our lighting isn’t cheap, and neither is our service. We believe that when you invest in something for your home, it should feel personal—from the product to the experience. And that’s exactly what we aim to deliver—lighting that’s beautifully built, thoughtfully made, and designed to last.
